Nuria Garcia is regional president of MetLife Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). In this role, she oversees MetLife's businesses across more than 20 markets in the region.
She joined MetLife in 2013 as head of direct sales, marketing and communication for the company's operation in France. Her main focus in this role was to grow the business while diversifying the existing distribution model, as well as to develop MetLife France's protection product offering and brand.
In 2015, Garcia assumed responsibility for the direct-to-consumer distribution channel for Western and Central Europe and was subsequently appointed chief distribution officer for Europe. In 2019, she became chief operating officer for MetLife Europe before being appointed deputy head of EMEA in April 2020. She was appointed to her current position as head of EMEA in January 2021.
Garcia began her career at SocGen in Paris as a corporate finance analyst before joining GE, where she spent 15 years working for GE Healthcare, CNBC and GE Money Bank in London and Paris. During that time, she held roles in financial planning & analysis, treasury, risk, salesforce effectiveness, insurance, marketing, business development and direct-to-consumer. She also served as Paris GE's Women's Network leader, a role that further inspired her passion for the professional development of women.
Garcia serves on the Board of Junior Achievement Europe.
Garcia attended university in Oviedo, a small town in the north of Spain, before studying in Hull, UK, and graduating with a degree in economics and business administration. She holds her MBA from Deusto University in Spain and a master's in finance engineering from EM Lyon in France.
