Lyndon Oliver is regional president of MetLife Asia and a member of the company's Executive Leadership Team. In this role, he oversees a diverse mix of mature and growth markets across the region, including Japan, which is MetLife's second-largest market and largest retail life insurance business.
Oliver served as MetLife’s treasurer from 2019 to 2022 and the company’s head of strategy from 2021 to 2022. As treasurer, he had responsibility for the strategic management of MetLife’s financial resources, including capital management, reinsurance, liquidity risk and cash management. He also managed the company’s relationships with banks and rating agencies. As head of strategy, he led the team responsible for MetLife’s global strategy to help drive top- and bottom-line financial performance.
Before rejoining MetLife in November 2019, Oliver served as AXA’s chief strategic development officer in Asia. Before AXA, he held several senior roles at MetLife from 2010 to 2018, including CFO for Asia; CFO for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region; and CFO for the Group Benefits organization in the U.S. business.
Prior to MetLife’s acquisition of AIG’s Alico in November 2010, Oliver was the CFO of AIG Life Companies in Japan and Korea. Previously, he held executive and financial management positions at The Hartford and ING Group.
Oliver serves on the MetLife Foundation’s Board of Directors and as Treasurer of the Foundation.
Oliver earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and his MBA from the University of Alabama.
